Call to Action: Pet Food and the FDA

If you read my blog, you most likely have pet dogs.  There have been many horror stories over the years of dogs and cats becoming ill or dying from food or treats.  I’m sure you are aware of the latest rash of problems linked to jerky treats being manufactured in China.  We have a right to expect that the food we buy for our pets is as safe as the food we buy for ourselves and our other family members.  That is the job of the FDA.

In October, 2013, the FDA announced proposed changes pertaining to the pet food industry and it is important that we take this opportunity to make our voices heard.  These are “proposed” changes so we need to let the FDA know NOW that we want these changes.  You can be certain that the pet food industry will be speaking up loudly against some of these regulations.

I feel very strongly about this and I am asking all of my readers to take 5 minutes to let the FDA know how we feel.  Susan Thixton has made it very easy for us to do this.

Susan Thixton is devoted to revealing the problems with the pet food industry and bringing about the changes needed to assure safety.  She formed The Association for Truth in Pet Food (  of which I am a member.  She also has a website The Truth About Pet Food (  This post is from January 1, 2013.  Please read, act and share!

Here’s to being our dog’s best friend,

  1. Thanks for this post and the links, I just read the “Buyer Beware” article. I wrote a comment and I will share the message .

    • Thank you! We need to do this for our pets. 🙂

  2. Nice thoughts. Usually proposed equals final. But yes wit doesn’t hurt to comment. It will be interesting to see if pet food companies comment or not. I mean what bad publicity if they comment against safer food. Thanks for the article, look forward to seeing whet happens.

    • Thank you for visiting, Seth. Oh, I am sure they will be against any changes that will cut into their profits! “Proposed” means they are not final yet so we need to give our input. Please take 5 minutes to do so and then share. 🙂

      • Yes, probably right but there’s hope they will see the negative publicity will outweigh safety costs. Hey, I’m a dreamer. :). Thanks for the notice. Great idea to comment.

      • I hope you are right, Seth! I think I’m a dreamer, too and maybe that’s why I enjoy your photographs so much. The world could use more dreamers! 🙂

  3. Thanks for the link Linda. This needs to be done for all the pets all over the world. I went to the page, followed the instructions and commented. Your Comment Tracking Number: 1jy-89zi-zbxf. Thanks for sharing hon. *hugs*
